![]() ![]() It causes huge dB fluctuations and is really annoying to hear. I'm not talking like 100rpm drops either, I'm talking 2000rpm to 800rpm drops and then back up. If Windows and browsers mess with the GPU, that would just be a cause to increase fan speed due to temp fluctuations right? I tested the fan speed and set it to multiple consistent speeds like 30, 50, 60, 70, 90 percent, and only 70+ will the fan rpms remain constant, while anything lower, and the rpms drop and ramp up. The problem also persists through new Nvidia driver releases and a clean Windows 10 install. I've reseated the PCIE slot, PCIE cables, and the fan cables. Well this has been going on for a few months now, I should have stated that instead of recently. I made a video, just don't know how or if I could post it here. As I said, just sitting at desktop and a 50% fan speed, they are dipping and then picking up speed. It has nothing to do with temp changes on my card. This is not a temperature hysteria issue either, as I've tried setting a 5-10C limit. What is causing this behaviour? The only way I can fix it is to keep a silent profile while the GPU is under 50C and then set my fans to shoot straight up to 70+% above 50C, so that even while gaming and temps change, I don't hear it ramp up/down. 60% or lower testing shows a zig zag of rpm on the fan monitor, along with that annoying rev up/down sound. With further testing, it seems only at 70% fan speed or higher will my fans rpm stay consistent. They are at a constant 3100-3200 rpm and 90% speed. Now, also on desktop, I set the fans to be a consistent 90% and there is no revving up/down. Fan 1 and 2 tachometers now show zig zag lines as the rpm spins up and down, yet the % speed of Fan 1 and 2 stayed at 50% oddly. ![]() Just sitting at the desktop with GPU/Mem clocks as 300/405 respectively, I set the fan to be a consistent 50%. I've been doing some testing first using Asus GPU Tweak and now MSI Afterburner with the fan controls. I've recently been noticing my Asus Strix RTX 2080 Ti OC having its fans revving up/down constantly lately. ![]()
